Nearly every industry in Michigan is being affected by our nation’s increasingly poor economic conditions. Organizations are tightening budgets, restricting employee benefits and in some cases, closing their doors. Unfortunately, (NAME OF DISTRICT) is not immune from what other organizations are experiencing. We too are feeling the pinch of an ailing economy.
With the current economic situation, the (NAME OF DISTRICT) Board and administration has reduced expenditures for the next school year by $XX million. The spending cut, which includes a reduction in staff, is a result of decreased state aid, cuts in grant funding and increased costs. The cuts will be effective (DATE).
As we struggle with these budgetary issues, we must be reminded of the significant contributions that each of you make to the education of the children the county. I am confident that we can work together to weather this storm and look forward to better times ahead.
